Byte Me is a three part info-graphics project wherein I present the idea of music streaming becoming the newest widespread format in which music is consumed.
By delivering a faster, more convenient form of consuming music, streaming has all but eliminated the need to pirate music. Ownership is access and by streaming music, you can access your music any time you want, any where you want and on any device that you want.
In the first spread I introduce the Icons that are representative or each music format developed thus far. The first spread explains what music streaming is and the countries with the highest percentage of population whom partake in streaming.
in spread two I present the finding of a survey I conducted about why people pirate music. Based on the information in this survey I came to the conclusion that people are more willing to stream music than to pirate it because of the ease of use and convenience that streaming provides.I elected to use the "loading" circle as a representative of streaming because of it's familiarity to concept of streaming while for piracy I chose to use a skull because of it's connection to the Jolly Rodgers, the symbol of physical piracy.
On Spread three I break down how lucrative the streaming service pandora can be even the most relatively unknown artists. I also present the idea of Trent Reznor being the unofficial father of music streaming. Reznor was an early adapter of streaming technology, in 2008 Reznor broke from his label and streamed his latest album "The slip" free of charge. Reznor also streamed the album "Welcome Oblivion" on the site pitchfork.com for free the month prior to it's commercial release. More recently, Reznor signed on to be the CCO of Beats Music, Beats by Dr.Dre's music streaming service.
I chose to include an introduction to my poster in order to give the viewer context for my thesis.
I chose to present a time line of the way music is distributed in order to show the exponential growth in whihc these meethods evolve.
This is another way of representing the information of page 5 of my magazine. I chose to use a circular bar graph in order to have a conpact way to fit all the information.
I chose to do a traditional bar graph when it come to showing which music format nets the artist the most money when broken down dollar per dollar. This was an effective way of managing my content in an effective way.
The final implementation of my info graphic is a two foot by three foot poster that was displayed at San Diego State University's student art gallery.
